Drilling continues with the rigs working on the final two arrays at Chestnut Mews.
Drilling continues today with the rigs working on the final two arrays at Chestnut Mews; we expect both rigs to be drilling on Aspen Mews by the middle of next week. We have encountered extremely hard sandstone at a depth of 126m which is slowing up drilling on the deeper boreholes. To get around this the drillers are pulling the drill rods at 120m and changing the drill bit to one designed for harder geology.
The project delivery team met today to check progress, discuss heating installation schedule, and design approval. In attendance were Amy Knowles (Customer Liaison officer Trent and Dove), Gary Hill (Project Manager Trent and Dove), Jon Garrett (Senior Consultant Encraft) and Dan Roberts (Contract Project Manager Kensa Contracting).
Project in a nutshell
- Design and install communal ground source heat pump systems into two blocks of three-storey flats
- Drill 40 boreholes to an average depth of 140m
- Manifold the boreholes to 12 individual ground arrays
- Trench back to the 60 flats
- Remove old inefficient night store heaters and hot water cylinder
- Replace with a Kensa Shoebox 6kW, a highly efficient hot water cylinder and a wet radiator system
- Install thermostatic and time controls to allow total control for residents with individual heat requirements
